Aughawillan GAA Notes 23rd May 2017

Junior Team:  Well done to our Junior team who had a good win over Aughavas in the latest round of the league last Sunday.  Final Score 3-18 to 0-4. Next up is Aughnasheelin this Wednesday evening at 8pm in Aughawillan and away to Leitrim Gaels next Saturday at 7pm.

 



Underage Teams: U13: Well done to our U13 team who defeated St. Joseph’s last Friday evening.  Final Score 1-3 to 7-11.  They now take on St. Mary’s away next Friday at 7pm in a play off.


U15:  Well done to our U15 team who defeated Drumkeeran last Tuesday evening. Final Score 0-3 to 3-11.  They now take on Dromahaire this Tuesday at 7.30pm in Aughnasheelin in a play-off. 

Cuilcagh Mountain Challenge 2017:  This year’s Cuilcagh Mountain Climb will take place on Bank Holiday Monday 5th June, from the Blackrock’s, Glangevlin.  All newcomers are welcome and the walkers will be ably led by a number of very experienced climbers.  Sponsorship Cards are being distributed this week and all walkers and family groups are encouraged to have at least one sponsorship card completed on or before the day of the climb (10 lines per card).  There will be a draw for a prize of €100 for all climbers registered on the day.  If you are interested in climbing and would like a card please contact one of our team leaders, Jerome Quinn 087-9456887, PJ McNiffe 086-2671859, Sinead Kieran 086-4022312, Pat Flanagan 086-6862764, Paul Bohan 087-2187037, Noel Kiernan 087-0512623, Ollie Plunkett 087-2075975, Sean Quinn 087-6132942, Peter Prior 086-8320711 or Mickey Flanagan 087-6002621.  Information about registration, starting time and other details will follow closer to the event.

 

10km/5km Run:  Well done to everybody who took part in the 10km/5km run/jog/walk last Saturday. Special thanks to Noel & Kate Gilheany and to all the stewards, people who provided refreshments and to everybody who helped on the day to make it a well-run and enjoyable event. Race winners: 10km Men – Gary Deane, 10km Women – Lyla Dolan, 10km U16 – Rachel Dolan & Holly Hewson, 5km Men – Michael Quinn, 5km Women – Andrea Horgan, 5km U16 – Oran Flanagan. 

 

County:  Well done to Morgan and the Leitrim Hurling team who defeated Sligo last Saturday on a score-line of 3-15 to 3-8, the result earns them a well-deserved place in the Lory Meagher Final in Croke Park on Saturday 10th June. 

 Well done to Noel, Gary and the Leitrim Junior team who defeated Mayo 1-16 to 0-16 last Wednesday to win the Connaught Junior Final.

All roads lead to London next Sunday when Leitrim take on London in the Connaught Championship, best of luck to Noel, Gary, Mark, Pearce and the Leitrim team. 

Corraleehan Parish Walk: Corraleehan Parish Walk continues each Thursday night at 8.30pm from Corraleehan Church. Community spirit, health, fitness, whatever your goals we will be happy to see you, everyone welcome.
