Aughawillan GAA Notes 27th February 2017
Aughawillan GAA Dinner Dance: A big thank you to everybody from near and far who attended last Saturday night’s dinner dance in the Slieve Russell Hotel. With great food and entertainment, a fantastic night was had by all. Special thanks to Dublin great Charlie Redmond for attending and making the presentations to the 2016 Senior Championship winning team and management and to the 1992 Senior Championship winning team and management. Thank you also to Declan Darcy for ensuring Sam Maguire was present on the night. We must also thank Attracta O’Reilly and Claire Crossan for attending on behalf of Leitrim County Board and Willie Donnellan from the Leitrim Observer. Special mention to Pat Joe McNiff our MC for the night who ensured everything ran smoothly and to Mairead O’Flaherty for taking all the great photos. We thank the 2016 Senior winning team and management for the effort and commitment they gave over the previous year, which makes nights like these so special. We also thank so many of the 1992 senior winning team and management for attending, many of this group continue to play a very active role in the club, instilling their winning mentality and pride for the club into our current players.

Underage Fixtures: Our U17 team are down to play Melvin Gaels this weekend and our U13 team our due to play Sean O’Heslins in the first round of the League. No fixtures at time of print. Please check Facebook for updates.

County Team: Hard luck to Barry, Noel, Gary and Mark who were defeated by Westmeath in the 3rd round of the Alliance National League in Mullingar on Sunday last. They now take on Carlow in Pairc Sean this Sunday at 2pm. Best of luck to Morgan who is representing us on the county hurling scene. They take on Warwickshire this Sunday.
