Aughawillan GAA Notes 25/04/2016
Dunnes ACL Division 1 2016: Aughawillan played Glencar Manorhamillton at the weekend. Unfortunately this was a bad day for the club, with Rory Mc Tague and Declan Mc Govern now facing injuries and a loss on the field, 2-17 to 0-13. We wish the lads a speedy recovery.
Gallogly Catering ACL Division 4: Aughawillan will play St. Osnats, Manorhamillton at 7pm on Saturday evening in Aughawillan. Please come out and show your support.
U16: Congratulations to St. Brigid’s Under 16 team who played Melvin Gales on Saturday morning in Drumreilly. This was a good win for the team. Final score St. Brigids 3-14 to Melvin Gaels 1-04. Well done lads!
Update on U12 League: Our U12 team had their last game of the league against Cloone on Friday evening. This was a good game with all players getting game time. Final score Cloone 6-06 to Garadice Gaels 6-00.
U8/10: Our U8/10 team will host the first Blitz of the season on Saturday 30th of April at 10.30. Please show your support.
Clubhouse Clean UP: With a 5 km being run and a sports day on the horizon, can we ask that some volunteers turn out on Saturday morning at 11.30 to give the place a clean-up. All help greatly appreciated.
Aughawillan 5km Run/Jog/ Walk: On Monday 2nd May at 1pm. With spring in the air why not start your summer fitness regime with this timed event, changing and shower facilities available. Registration at Aughawillan Football Field from 11.45am to 12.45pm. Adults €10, Students/U16 €5, Family €20. Refreshments will be served. We would encourage all of our extended communities to join us in this exhilarating Run / Jog / Walk.
Ladies Night: Need an excuse to get out of the house!! Want to meet up with some friends! Ladies Night in the Poor Scholar on Saturday 7th May is just the place to get out, have fun, mingle and laugh. Tickets are €10 and proceeds go to Aughawillan GAA. Stewards Course: Leitrim County board are running a stewards course to facilitate people who wish to do stewarding at Pairc Sean Mac Diarmada and other pitches as required in Leitrim and Connacht. This course will take place in the Bush Hotel on Friday May 6th from 6.30pm until 9pm and Saturday May 7th from 9am until 1pm.If interested, please contact Attracta O’Reilly on 0861708499.
Aughawillan GAA BBQ & Sports Day: Aughawillan GAA are hosting a BBQ & Sports Day in Aughawillan GAA Grounds on Sunday May 8th at 2.30pm as part of Cuilcagh Mountain Challenge. Fun events for all ages & abilities, followed by BBQ & entertainment. Tickets will be on sale after mass on Saturday 7th May & Sunday 8th May. Adults €10, children €5 & family ticket €30. This event is sure to be a great family fun day and we invite all in our extended communities to attend.
Designated Liaison Person Workshop: All club Designated Liaison persons should attend this workshop on Thursday May 26th in Aras on Chontae (Leitrim County Council offices) Carrick-on-Shannon, 7pm – 10pm.
Comghairdeas: Congratulations to Roisin Dolan who took part in the LAOCHRA show a spectacular pagent celebration in Croke Park on Sunday to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Rising. The Laochra show was billed as an exuberant “celebration of our national identity” and an acknowledgment of “the great wealth of Irish culture through the ages”.
