Senior County Championship: Congratulations to Mohill GFC on becoming the Senior County Champions of 2015. Aughawillan GFC wishes them success in the Club Championship.
In the interest of keeping supporters informed, the red card received by Michael Quinn in the County Semi-Final has been overturned on appeal by the County Hearings Committee. Appreciation is extended to the Hearings Committee on their prompt examination of our case and the expediency with which they delivered the verdict. It is noted by Aughawillan GFC that it is no easy job to be a referee in today’s sport where the intensity of the game these days, is at times incomprehensible. With increased technology all decisions can post game be questioned and thus the pressure referees are under to have the correct decision is too abundant. Decisions are increasingly being conferred upon linesmen and there is undoubtedly a duty of care with all decisions being made. Suffice to say on this occasion the card should not have been issued, but we are appeased that our case was heard and the judgement has brought the matter to a conclusion.
