Berkley Tragedy: Our sympathies to the families of those who lost their young lives so tragically in Berkley last week. It touches on the heart of so many in our area as we have seen our own students travel abroad, to experience all that is on offer in the land of opportunity. It was an emotional reminder of the familiarity and closeness of the GAA as we saw so many students line up in their club and county jerseys in picture after picture of the international newspapers as they paid their respects. Disturbing as The New York Times were in their disregard of the feelings of those who lost members of their families, and a nation who would mourn future doctors, teachers, designers, politicians, footballers and radio presenter, the respect and reverence displayed by the students abroad as they mourned lives cut short, that one day would have changed the lives of so many, is a sign of a nation genteel and decorous. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of these cherished young people. Féadfaidh siad chuid eile i síocháin.
