Club Notes – 04/05/2015

Senior League ACL 1: Although it was a disappointing loss to the lads and the huge number of supporters who turned out on a horrendous evening to support the Aughawillan Seniors, solice can be taken from some great football displayed on the field. Final score Mohill 2-08 Aughawillan 0- 10. Scores achieved in running order, a free from Morgan Quinn was quickly returned by Mohill. Ciaran Gilheany and Barry Prior scored a point each from within hard hitting play. Mohill responded quickly each time with scores. Colin Maguire made a unique and quick responsive save which saw Aughawillan fight back with a determination. Followed by two well taken frees from Ciaran Gilheany saw two more points gained. Half time score ended Aughawillan 0-05 to Mohill 0-03.
The second half was a speedy return to scores with points from Ciaran Gilheany, Rory Mc Tague and Gary Plunkett, these were quickly returned by Mohill but an added goal by Mohill increased the pressure on these lads. Michael Quinn rose from the backs with steely grit and determination and scored a point, while Sean Fox continued with a final point for Augahwillan. Mohill however were fighting with the wind and scored two points within play, a free and ended all chances with a goal.
An exciting and reverberating game to watch, if not the final score one would have wished for, with three weeks remiss of games, we look forward to the next outing with a new steely and determined outlook.
