Senior League ACL 1: It was the first senior competitive match of the year and a great start by all accounts, to a year where Aughawillan must prove the point and show they are not a one hit wonder. Aughawillan took on Gortlettragh on saturday evening, and as always Gortlettragh offered us a game full of challenges. The first half was fraught with quick play and determined scores. A penalty given to Aughawillan’s Gary Plunkett who was pulled to the ground from a scoring position, went on to see Sean Flanagan take and score the penalty, resonating memories of the County Final of 2014. Half time score was Aughawillan 2-08 to Gortlettragh 0-03. Gortlettragh were determined and dogged in their approach in the second half and scored nine points successively, to Aughawillan’s seven points.
Final score Aughawillan 2-15 to Gortlettragh 0-12.
Many thanks to the many supporters who turned out to support the lads, please do so again this coming saturday 18th April in Aughawillan at 7pm as we take on Carrigallen in the Senior League ACL 1.
